Mumbai: Three unidentified men on Sunday entered filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's house in Bandra and inquired about him.

His son, Rahul and his wife were present in the house when the men — armed with knives — entered the house. Soon after the incident, Rahul rushed to the police station.

Bhatt, who is presently Singapore, said that he was clueless about the reason behind the incident and denies any underworld hand.

Although the intruders didn't threaten anyone's life, they roughed up the guards on their way in.

Bhatt clearly stated that there was "no demand for money".

Police said the modus operandi of flashing knives is unlike the means employed by the underworld and hence rules out its involvement. It is perhaps the work of local goons meaning to frighten the Bhatt family, police added. Sketches of the suspects are being made.

Bhatt's daughter Pooja Bhatt is presently in Goa for IFFI.

On June 14, an unidentified gunman had entered the premises of Bhatt's office. Small time gangster Ravi Pujari had later claimed responsibility for the incident.

"I have been asked by my family and friends after what happened, to tone down and be less vociferous about my work with the minority community, but I refuse to do so," Bhatt had said after the incident. "If this attack was intended to plant the seeds of fear in me it has failed," Bhatt added.

The filmmaker said that he had been told that this attack may also have occurred because some people wanted him to distance himself from the minority community.

Though work went on as usual at the office where the incident had taken place, a group of policemen kept a close watch over every visitor.
