2 held for assault on BPO official

CHENNAI: Two persons have been for arrested for allegedly assaulting a BPO executive when he was with a female friend at the beach in Besant Nagar on Monday. N Sivakumar (38), the victim, works as an area sales manager in a BPO company in Bangalore, while Chitra works as an executive at the company’s branch office in Sholinganallur. Sivakumar arrived here on a business visit recently and took her to meet some of his clients.On Monday, Chitra told her friends K Vinod (27) and S Ashraf (27) about her schedule with Sivakumar. Vinod was Chitra’s colleague, while Ashraf was a textile showroom executive. The same evening, she informed them that she was on Elliots Beach with him. In a fit of rage, Vinod and Ashraf went to the beach on their bike and bashed up Sivakumar. Before he could react, the duo ran towards the service lane, where they had parked their bike.Meanwhile, some of the onlookers chased the duo and the two abandoned their bike and fled. Sivakumar lodged a complaint at the Shastri Nagar police station and a team recovered the abandoned bike. “We traced the owner of the bike through the registration number and found that the vehicle belonged to Vinod. He was picked up for inquiry and his friend Ashraf was also nabbed,” a senior police official said.The police registered a case against the duo under Section 341 (wrongful restraint) and 323 assaulting with hands) of IPC. They were remanded in judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate court in the city on Tuesday.
