Lucknow: Two persons, including a schoolgirl, were killed and four students seriously injured when a bus of a private school ran over them in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district on Thursday, police said.
The bus of RK Mittal Public School spun out of control and ran over five students and a 45-year-old man, who were standing on the roadside in the Naseerabad town, some 300 km from here.
"The girl died and the four injured students are between 8 and 10 years old. All are students of Mahaveer Public School," said police inspector Tej Bahadur in Ballia.
"The injured students are being treated at the district hospital. Their condition is serious."
The driver of the bus has managed to escape after the accident, police said.
"Teams have been constituted to nab him. The staff of RK Mittal School is also being questioned to nab the driver," Bahadur said.
