Phantump is a ghost/grass-type Pokémon that looks like a ghost with a tree stump on its head. Introduced in Gen VI, Phantump evolves into Trevenant when traded. You must trade Phantump to trigger its evolution; there is no other way. If you don’t want to trust a stranger to trade your evolved Phantump back to you, you can trade with yourself, provided you have 2 Gen VI games (either Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire) and 2 consoles (like the Nintendo 3DS). Start a trade with yourself. When your two gaming platforms are near each other, you will be offered the option to trade Pokémon. You can start the trade with either character.
Trade Pokémon. You can trade your Phantump in one game as the other trades a Froakie. When both players accept the trade, Phantump will evolve into Trevenant automatically.
Trade the Pokémon back. The other player can trade back the Trevenant and you can send back the Froakie.
