Kristen Stewart became a well-known personality for her role in the Twilight franchise and has carved her niche in Hollywood. It’s not unusual for fans to pay for an opportunity to spend time with their favourite celebrities. However, what’s truly surprising is that a Middle Eastern Prince was willing to pay a hefty amount for just a 15-minute conversation with the actress. According to The New York Times, Kristen received a whopping $500,000 (approximately Rs 4 Crore) for a brief meeting with an unnamed Saudi royal member in New York. This came to light during a discussion led by Harvey Weinstein following the screening of the Hurricane Sandy benefit concert film, 12.12.12, at the Toronto International Film Festival. The meeting happened at Madison Square Garden in December 2013 and the actress later donated the whole amount to the hurricane charity.
During the discussion at the film festival, Harvey revealed that a Middle Eastern prince had approached event organizers. The prince wanted to donate a generous amount in exchange for a private meeting with Kristen, although his identity remained confidential for security reasons. Kristen’s response to the proposal was simple, as she asked, “How much?” As the negotiations progressed, the agreement reached an impressive $500,000 (approximately Rs 4 Crore), which was paid in advance. Kristen then graciously spent 15 minutes in conversation with the prince.
Apart from Kristen Stewart, Harvey Weinstein got the support of several other A-list celebrities like Billy Joel, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen, among others, who contributed to the initiative. The star-studded lineup also featured memorable performances from Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and even the remaining members of Nirvana. The show successfully raised an impressive $30 million, which was donated towards those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
According to the Huffington Post, Harvey had also approached then-US President Barack Obama, but the POTUS declined the offer for personal reasons. Additionally, his attempts to convince the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin to participate were unsuccessful. He even asked the help of Hillary Clinton to use her skills but even her efforts were wasted.
Meanwhile, after the release of Twilight in 2008, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s careers took a massive turn, as the movie gave them overnight stardom. The romantic fantasy franchise captured the hearts of audiences worldwide and the final instalment of the saga was released in 2012, just a year after the Arab prince had the opportunity to meet his favourite actress, who played the beloved character Bella Swan in the franchise.
