Taylor Swift On Being Named Time Magazine's Person Of The Year: ‘Can’t Say Thank You Enough’

Taylor Swift is ending 2023 on a high note. The pop singer has been making the headlines this year for many reasons. Be it her successful Eras Tour concert, followed by her blockbuster Eras Tour concert film, being crowned as Spotify’s Global Top Artist, or her adorable relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce — it is safe to say that the year 2023 belongs to Taylor Swift. And her feats do not conclude here. On Wednesday, December 6 Time Magazine dubbed the Cruel Summer singer the “Person of the Year” for 2023. Expressing her gratitude for the honour, Taylor shared an Instagram post thanking Time’s editor Sam Lansky for his “wondrous way with words”.

In her long Instagram caption, Taylor Swift wrote, “Sam Lansky has such a wondrous way with words, and I’ve loved reading his pieces for over a decade. If you’ve ever been around him, you know he’s just the best type of person: Curious. Interested. Hilarious. Intriguing and intrigued. I have Trust Issues when it comes to interviews but I couldn’t be happier that I did this one with him. I was blown away to see quotes from people I adore and admire like Stevie Nicks, Greta Gerwig, Shonda Rhimes, Phoebe Bridgers, Natalie Maines, Kenny Chesney, and Lucian Grainge.”

“I was so happy he spoke to fans Madison and McCall who were so eloquent, loyal, and kind. I’m really reflecting on this year and all the years that led up to it. Can’t say thank you enough times,” she concluded.

According to Time Magazine, Taylor Swift “perfected her craft” as a top-tier musician and expert storyteller of the present generation this year. And Taylor admits the same. In her candid interaction with Sam Lansky, the Anti-Hero singer revealed, “This is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been” adding that she has successfully “entertained” the masses with her music and charisma.

Among the other things Taylor Swift talked about was how she prepared for the Eras Tour concert as the singing sensation felt the need to “repay” the efforts of her fans who worked really hard to get the tickets. Speaking about her partner Travis Kelce, the 33-year-old said, “I’m just there to support Travis” adding that it took her a few football matches to understand the game was “awesome”.
