Robert Downey Jr's Fun Interaction With Paparazzi After Winning His First Oscar Is A Hit

Robert Downey Jr is riding high on success after winning his first ever Oscar in 2024 for his performance in Oppenheimer. The actor secured the Best Supporting Actor award for his character, Admiral Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece. In his acceptance speech during the historic victory, Downey Jr spoke about his wife Susan and credited her for playing a key role in resurrecting his career. Soon after the 2024 ceremony concluded, the Iron Man star was seen in a joyful mood while he posed with his wife and had a fun banter with the paparazzi at the Vanity Fair Oscars carpet.

At the special event, the Hollywood couple showcased their charming chemistry and captured hearts as they were seen holding hands, laughing and talking to each other while posing for photographers. Robert wore a sharp black suit and matching pants, complemented by a formal white shirt. On the other hand, Susan looked elegant in an all black gown. Before posing for paparazzi, Robert had a heart to heart conversation with media present at the event and even made them laugh with his antics.

At the Oscars 2024, Robert Downey Jr was called on stage to receive the award by the previous year’s Best Supporting Actor awardee, Ke Huy Quan. While accepting the honour, Robert said, “I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the academy, in that order. I’d like to thank my veterinarian, I meant wife, Susan Downey. She found me a snarling rescue pet and you loved me back to life. That’s why I’m here. Thank you. Here’s my little secret. I needed this job more than it needed me. Chris knew it, Emma made sure that she surrounded me with one of the great casts and crews of all time, Emily, Cillian, it was fantastic. And I stand here before you a better man because of it."

“What we do is meaningful, and the stuff that we decide to make is important. I want to thank my stylist, in case no one else does. Thanks, Erika, thank you very much and I’m just going to say this. My entertainment lawyer Tom Hanson, for 40 years, the half of which he spent trying to get me insured and bailing me out, thanks, bro," he said.

Interestingly, this wasn’t Robert Downey Jr.’s first Oscar nomination, as he was previously recognised for his role in the black comedy film Tropic Thunder in 2009.
