John Cena shared a cryptic post just hours after he walked on the Oscars 2024 stage naked. On Sunday (Monday, IST), Cena walked on stage nude to present the award for Best Costume Award. The moment was also a nod to the 1974 Oscars streaker. The moment took everyone by surprise and Cena immediately became the talk of the town. While Cena is yet to comment about the now-viral Oscar moment, he took to Instagram and shared a no context post.
The post featured a still of the 2012 film, Prometheus. The film was directed by Ridley Scott and it featured the ‘alien’ character named Engineer. The six-pack man had become taken fans by storm when the film released. After his Oscars appearance, John Cena shared a still of the character on his Instagram with no caption.
In an interview with Variety, Rob Mills, the exec VP of unscripted and alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television, said that the team had to undergo an intense process to get Cena on stage nude. Mills said they also rehearsed the segment in a closed room to stop the surprise from leaking.
“There was a lot of reticence of not just a fine from the FCC, but potential complaints,” he told the publication, adding that the S&P team wanted to let everyone know that Cena was not fully naked. “I’m going to educate you a little here. A bulge cannot be showing, and you can’t show crack. It was also, ’What happens if he drops that card?’ So, we made sure that, for all intents and purposes, he looked like a Ken doll up front. His crack was covered in the back and then the envelope was Velcro-ed on there so it wouldn’t fall. But beyond that, he was naked,” Mills said.
