India now face FC Benfica on August 6 for the 3rd place playoff.
New Delhi: The Indian under-19 side went down fighting to Mexico's FC Chivas 1-3 in the semifinal of the Weifang Cup in Shandong, China.
Pronoy Halder put India in the lead early in the first half, but India failed to hold on to it as Chivas restored parity just before the interval.
The Indians did enjoy territorial domination but were not able to penetrate as Chivas added two more to the tally in the second half.
India now face FC Benfica on August 6 for the 3rd place playoff while Chivas will take on China's under-19 in the final. China beat FC Benfica 2-1 in the other semifinal.
