Tottenham target Villa striker Benteke

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly launching a £20million bid for Aston Villa's Christian Benteke, according to The Daily Star.

Spurs had finished at the fifth spot during the 2012/13 season and it was mainly due to the Belgian striker's impressive form. With a total of 23 goals, Paul Lambert's probability of accepting the offer seems unlikely.

Spurs Manager Andre-Villas-Boas is focussing on strengthening his side but is also aware of the fact that Benteke is yet to put forward a request regading any switch. After a dismal season of existing strikers Emanuel Adebayor and Jermainm Defoe, Benteke may be the right option.

Tottenham have already decided on signing Corinthians midfielder Paulinho after the Brazilian side agreed to the deal.
