The 24-year-old Herrera will join on a four-year contract after he receives an international transfer certificate.
Manchester: Manchester United have signed midfielder Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao, the first summer recruit since Louis van Gaal took charge of the struggling club.
The 24-year-old Herrera will join on a four-year contract after he receives an international transfer certificate. United says it triggered a buyout clause in Herrera's contract.
Herrera says "signing for Manchester United is a dream come true ... I have joined United to do all I can to help the team reach the club's objectives."
That includes the 20-time English champions returning to the Premier League's top four to qualify for the Champions League after finishing in seventh place last month.
Van Gaal was hired last month in the wake of David Moyes' firing.
