Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son has won the hearts of the internet once again after a hilarious yet heartwarming interaction with football journalists. The South Korean international recently featured in a friendly outing in Australia against Newcastle United. Following a victory for Newcastle, Son was approached by several journalists to speak on the game. However, the Tottenham forward seemed to be in a bit of a hurry to enjoy his holiday. However, he ensured that he didn’t disrespect the media by putting up a humble request. “Can I please go today? I always stop and I had a press conference. Please let me go. Let me have a holiday”, Sonny told the media as per SportBIBLE.
The hilarious declination from Heung-Min Son was shared by SportBIBLE on Instagram. In the caption, the media outlet wrote, “Son Heung-min politely declined the media in the most Son way ever after playing in a friendly out in Australia for Tottenham, just three days after the Premier League season ended. Never change, Sonny.” Several fans have now reacted to the post with one of them claiming that only Son could pull off something like that. “Only he can decline media without making them angry, absolutely! He’s the reason I support Spurs”, she said.
In one reply, a fan suggested that Heung-Min Son barely has any haters in the world of football. “You obviously can’t hate this guy”, he wrote.
Another seemed to agree as he asked, “How can you hate this guy?”
One said, “Nicest player in football”.
“Great player, greater person, coming from a Liverpool fan”, read one reply.
As for the game, the friendly between Tottenham and Newcastle went to penalties after a 1-1 draw. James Maddison found the net for Spurs in the 32nd minute after which Alexander Isak equalised with a 45th-minute strike.
As for Heung-Min Son, the South Korean has established himself as a modern-era Tottenham icon. Since making his debut for the Spurs in 2015, Son has scored 162 goals and provided 84 assists. He recently made his 400th appearance for the club in a 1-1 draw against West Ham in April. The landmark achievement led to some of the footballer’s ex-teammates congratulating him in a video on X. The names included Harry Kane, Dele Ali, Christian Eriksen and Hugo Lloris.
Nothing changed for Heung-Min Son this season as the South Korean footballer put up yet another impressive club season for Tottenham. The forward scored 17 times in 35 games while also providing 10 assists. Despite the impressive numbers, the Ange Postecoglou-coached side only managed a fifth-place finish in the Premier League. While Son has enjoyed an illustrious individual career at Tottenham, he is yet to win a major tournament with the English side.
