'Keeping the ball is Messi's sugar high'
Messi is apparently nothing more than a child carrying a sweet treat when on the field with the ball at his feet.

Johannesburg: He's the most feared forward in football and the world's best player, but Lionel Messi is apparently nothing more than a child carrying a sweet treat when on the field with the ball at his feet.

At least that's how Argentina coach Diego Maradona put it.

Maradona says "if we take the ball away from him, it will be like taking a piece of chocolate away from a kid."

Argentina's diminutive star had plenty of possession in Saturday's 1-0 World Cup win over Nigeria and produced a magical performance that was unlucky not to have been rewarded with a goal.

Maradona's tactics for the 22-year-old Barcelona forward were simple, saying: "I want Messi to be very close to the ball ... If he is having fun, then we are all going to have fun."

What's your reaction?
