Sky Italia reported on Tuesday that Maicon didn't cost Roma a penny as the EPL club, in fact, paid in excess of 2 million euros in order for Maicon to leave the club.
Announcing the signing of Maicon, the club via its official Twitter page said : "Benvenuto Maicon" and a image of the player taking part in his first training session in Giallorossi colours earlier on Tuesday.
Maicon becomes AS Roma's eighth new signing and third defender this summer.
