AS Roma sign Maicon from Manchester City

Boosting their defensive line-up, Seria A club AS Roma on Tuesday announced the signing of Manchester City full-back Douglas Maicon via their twitter page.

Maicon returns to the Italian fold after a one-year gap following his exit from Inter Milan to join City last summer.

Sky Italia reported on Tuesday that Maicon didn't cost Roma a penny as the EPL club, in fact, paid in excess of 2 million euros in order for Maicon to leave the club.

Announcing the signing of Maicon, the club via its official Twitter page said : "Benvenuto Maicon" and a image of the player taking part in his first training session in Giallorossi colours earlier on Tuesday.

Maicon becomes AS Roma's eighth new signing and third defender this summer.
