UP School Principal Expels Two Girls for 'Stealing' Laddus, Probe Ordered
The incident occurred in Saharanpur's Nakur area, where two girls from seventh and eighth grades were expelled, and the principal removed their names from records

Two girl students were expelled from the school for allegedly stealing laddus during the Independence Day celebrations. The incident took place at a government primary school in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The case has got significant momentum and the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) has launched an investigation against the school principal.

According to sources, the family of girl students, who are sisters, are financially poor. The family claimed that the school principal has ruined their wards’ lives.

The incident took place in the Nakur area of Saharanpur. The two girl students who were expelled were in the seventh and eight grade respectively. The principal of the school asked them to take TC and struck off their names from the school record.

The incident took place on August 15 when students were called to distribute laddus among themselves. Some laddus were kept in the principal’s office. The next day, on August 16, children came to school. Reportedly, while the principal was teaching, the children went to drink water. It has been claimed that during that time, the two sisters allegedly stole the laddus and ate them.

When the principal came to know about this incident, they accused the sisters of stealing and expelled them from the school. When the girls narrated this at their home, their father came to the school to inquired about the matter. After the school principal allegedly misbehaved with him, he lodged a complaint against him at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office.

“I had nothing to do with the theft. Other girls were involved in it. I was falsely implicated,” one of the two sisters who were expelled said. She added that though she stressed that she did not steal the laddus, the principal allegedly beat her up and expelled her. Jasbir Kumar, the girls’ father, claimed that his daughters have been implicated in false allegations.

At present, the education department has taken action after noting the seriousness of this incident. Kumari Komal, Principal Education Officer of Saharanpur said that this issue has come to her attention recently. He has ordered an immediate investigation and instructed the block education officer to talk to the family of the girl students and counsel them.

While preliminary investigation has not found any concrete evidence of laddu theft, the matter is being thoroughly investigated.
