Even before taking admission to IIT, he had set his goal of starting his own startup.

IIT graduates are currently spearheading a few of the biggest companies in the world. IIT graduates are known for their genius minds, handwork, and fat paychecks. Most IIT graduates secure high-paying jobs from placement drives organised by the institute. Everyone wants the opportunity of a campus placement. But there are some passionate candidates who have already set their goals and do not participate in the placement drive. Recently, one story came to light where a student named Kalpit Veerwal secured the All India No 1 rank in JEE Main. Then he completed his studies at IIT Bombay but left the placement to start his own startup. Let’s take a look at his success story.

Kalpit Veerwal, a resident of Rajasthan, secured the All India No 1 rank in JEE Main 2017 with a score of 360 out of 360. After this, he took admission in the BTech Computer Science and Engineering course of the country’s number one college, IIT Bombay. He studied engineering here from 2017 to 2021. Every student studying at IIT waits for the placement round. Kalpit Veerwal did not participate in the placements at IIT Bombay. Even before taking admission to IIT, he had set his goal of starting his own startup.

So when the placements were about to start, he wrote on LinkedIn that he would not participate in them. Kalpit wrote in one of his posts that he wanted to do something for the nation.

For this, he wanted to create employment in the country. He started his online edutech company, AcadBoost Technologies, in the year 2019. He further shared that, with the grace of God and people’s support, he is doing well. He employs more than 30 people and his company has been able to empower more than 60 thousand school and college students and teachers.

The business stabilised over the next two years. Today, it is profitable every month since launch, growing in student numbers every month. It never raised any funding despite several approaches by PE firms, big-name investors, and acquisition efforts by multiple EdTech players. He has invested all of his money in various business, stocks, and real estate, creating a healthy passive income portfolio.

Kalpit Veerwal has many achievements to his name, from becoming a JEE Main topper to securing the number-1 rank in the Junior Science Olympiad.

According to his LinkedIn profile, he has cleared the National Talent Search Scholarship and the Indian National Astronomy Olympiad. He also runs his own YouTube channel, which has thousands of followers.
