Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Claims Government School Education Builds Better Leaders
He said those who have studied in government schools have developed better personalities than those who have studied in elite schools.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, joined politics after having a successful career in the Indian entertainment industry. In a recent interview on Chaupal TV, he shared some anecdotes about government schools. He mentioned that those who have studied in government schools will understand his words. The politician also criticised the leaders who have stayed in elite schools and mentioned that they will never understand the problems of Government schools.

Mann mentioned that people like Sukhbir Singh Badal and Rahul Gandhi studied in elite schools. He stated in contrast, those who have studied in government schools have developed better personalities than those who have studied in elite schools. Mann said, “Students who study in government schools often have to make several decisions on their own. The first decision we had to make was whether or not to attend school that day. No one was interested to know who all had come to school and who hadn’t.”

The Chief Minister of Punjab mentioned that if the students do decide to attend the school, then the students decide whether to attend the school for half day or full day. He humorously added, “Students like me then had to decide whether to leave the school or leave alone. People who have studied in government schools have to make many such decisions which contribute to personality development. Whereas private school students are strictly made to maintain proper discipline.”

Bhagwant Mann tried to explain that leaders connected to the grassroots are those who grew up in villages and studied in government schools. He added that there are many modern leaders, who have studied in elite schools but lack a deep understanding of local problems, particularly those faced by farmers and villagers. He indirectly indicated the President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Sukhbir Singh Badal and INC leader Rahul Gandhi. While Bhagwant Mann’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is part of the INDIA alliance led by the Indian National Congress, the two parties remain arch-rivals in the state of Punjab.
