It’s always heartening to hear stories of individuals overcoming challenges to achieve remarkable success, serving as an inspiration to us all. The latest tale of triumph comes from Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh, where a woman who once studied by the light of a lantern has now been appointed as a Lekhpal.
Meet Shanti Gupta, a resident of Mohalla Bharaganj in Satrikh town, Barabanki. Despite growing up in a modest household without basic amenities like electricity, Shanti’s determination to excel in education knew no bounds. Her father, a labourer, supported her aspirations despite their financial constraints.
Studying at a government school, Shanti persisted through the night, illuminated by the faint glow of a lantern, to pursue her education. Her relentless dedication paid off as she eventually became an accountant. Now, she has achieved her long-held dream of becoming a Lekhpal, a village accountant officer.
The news of Shanti’s accomplishment spread rapidly throughout the village, drawing a jubilant crowd to her home. Villagers showered her with congratulations and adorned her with flower garlands, celebrating her success as a symbol of hope and perseverance.
Shanti acknowledges her father’s support throughout her journey, as he ensured she received an education despite their financial struggles. Although they couldn’t afford her college fees, Shanti managed to complete her graduation with the help of borrowed funds from friends.
While her family eventually received a house through the PM Awas Yojana, it still lacked electricity, highlighting the enduring challenges they faced. Nonetheless, Shanti’s indomitable spirit and resilience have propelled her to achieve remarkable heights, inspiring others to persevere in the face of adversity.
Shanti’s story shows the power of determination and hard work in overcoming obstacles and achieving one’s dreams, no matter how daunting the circumstances may seem.
