The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) has begun the admission process for Class 6 students for the academic year 2025-26. Parents and guardians should be aware that the application process is ongoing, with the deadline to submit it on the official website navodaya.gov.in is September 16. Additionally, the application form for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) for Class 6 admission is available on cbseitms.nic.in.
To secure a spot in the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, students must currently be enrolled in Class 5 for the academic year 2023-24. It is important to note that students can only seek admission to the Navodaya Vidyalaya located in their district. To confirm eligibility, it is also necessary to provide a residence certificate when submitting the application form.
JNV Admissions 2025: Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Class 6 admissions at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, students must have completed full-time studies in Classes 3, 4, and 5 at a government, government-aided, or recognised school and must have passed each of these classes.
Only one attempt is allowed for the JNVST entrance exam.
Rural Quota: 75 per cent of seats are reserved for students from rural areas of the district.
Urban Quota: The remaining 25 per cent of seats are available to students from both urban and rural areas, according to the district’s reservation criteria. This includes students who have completed up to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th standards in schools located in urban areas.

Step 1: Log in to the official website of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at navodaya.gov.in.
Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link titled, “Click here for Class VI Registration 2025.”
Step 3: Now, register with the required credentials and fill out the application form.
Step 4: Scan and upload the required documents in the mentioned size and format.
Step 5: Pay the required application fee to complete the application process.
Step 6: Once done, click on the submit button and save a copy of the same for future use.
JNV Admissions 2025: Selection Process
Admission to Class 6 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) is solely based on merit, determined by the national-level Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST).
The JNVST entrance exam, designed and conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), assesses students on mathematics, mental ability and their regional language. The selection process is focused on identifying and nurturing talent, particularly from rural areas.
