Many students dream of studying at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). One of the important requirements to get enrolled in this institute is to crack the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). What if we tell you that there is a course which does not require your JEE or JEE Advanced scores? IIT Madras is inviting students to apply for its third batch of the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electronic Systems Programme. The four-year programme has multiple exits, which means that if a student drops out after a year, they will get a foundation-level certificate. Students can also avail Diploma after dropping out in second year or a BS degree in the final year of the programme. JEE Main or JEE Advanced scores are not required while registering for the degree. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the IIT-Madras’ four-year online Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electronic Systems in March 2023. Currently, more than 1,000 students are pursuing the programme.
The eligibility criteria for students is that they must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics. Students who are in Class 11 can also apply. The application fee for admission to the BS Electronic Systems Programme is Rs 6,000 for general, Other Backward classes (OBCs) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). Similarly, the application fee is Rs 3,000 for Scheduled Caste(SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
The education institute also announced the course fees for BS Electronic Systems. The fees for the foundation course is Rs 80,000. The fees for the Diploma course is Rs 2.48 lakh, while for the entire four-year programme it is Rs 5.84 lakh. The admission process to BS Electronic Systems Programme course requires passing the entrance exam which will be held on July 7. It has been termed as the Qualifier Exam. There will be a four-week qualifier preparation. It will have lectures, videos, assignments and live sessions after which an examination will be conducted.
