Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has welcomed Dr. Prabina Rajib as its new Director, following Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi in a significant leadership shift. Renowned in the field of finance and accounting, Dr Prabina Rajib has a distinguished background, having held positions at the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur. Dr. Rajib’s expertise encompasses teaching, research, and consulting, and she brings over two decades of experience to her new post. Her distinguished career includes being the author of two prominent books, “Commodity Derivatives and Risk Management” (2014) and “Stock Exchanges Investment and Derivative.” Her commitment to academic performance is demonstrated by her promotions in 2007 and 2011 at IIT Kharagpur.
Dr. Rajib has substantial leadership experience, having served as Dean at VGSOM and mentoring multiple PhD theses. She has given several talks and written for numerous national and international magazines and conferences. Her areas of interest in research are many aspects of the Indian commodities spot and derivatives market, with a particular emphasis on commodity hedging techniques, commodity derivative pricing, and modelling.
Dr. Rajib also explores the complexities of the Indian capital market, including buybacks, delistings, IPO pricing, and ADRs/GDRs issued by Indian corporations. She also examines FDI entrance strategy and multinational firms’ international cooperation, both technological and financial.
Departing after a remarkable 25 years as Director, Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi will take over as Chief Educational Advisor at the parent organisation of BIMTECH and Birla Global University (BGU), the Birla Academy of Art & Culture.
In the meanwhile, the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has announced the launch of a 2-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. This 24-month programme is being established at a time when there is a global lack of AI and Data Science labourers. Blending AI and DS with management education will provide students a broad skill set that transcends conventional limits.
