'High Travel Costs': NEET PG 2024 Aspirants Urge Health Minister To Reassign Exam Centres
Students were asked to choose four preferred cities while filing the application form however, several of them claimed that they were not assigned any of the selected cities, the association said.

Several aspirants of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (PG) 2024 have taken to social media demanding reassignment of the allotment of test cities. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on August 11. Several students have claimed they received exam centres in another state which would be very far away from their current city. The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has written to the health minister JP Nadda seeking a re-evaluation of the exam centres.

Taking to microblogging site X, the association wrote, “FAIMA request Hon’ble Minister JP Nadda for intervention to re-evaluate the allocated NEET PG exam centers for students across India & re evaluate the allocated NEET PG exam centre for students across India.” Students were asked to choose four preferred cities while filing the application form however, several of them claimed that they were not assigned any of the selected cities, the association said.

“Numerous students have been assigned centres that are geographically distant from their homes, leading to high travel costs including last minute bookings for flights, trains or buses,” reads the letter adding that it also includes expensive last minute bookings. This would complicate the students’ travel and accommodation arrangements, the letter adds.

The NEET PG test will be administered using a computer-based test mode (CBT). The exam will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions for 800 marks. Four marks will be given for each right response, and one mark will be subtracted for each incorrect response. To be considered for admission to 26,699 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,886 Master of Surgery (MS) and 922 PG Diploma seats, candidates must pass the exam.
