Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept their playoffs hopes alive with a fifth straight win in IPL 2024 that saw them outclass Delhi Capitals on Sunday night. A hilarious exchange involving a couple of players of the two opponents also added to the entertainment quotient.
Former RCB captain Virat Kohli and DC veteran Ishant Sharma traded blows in the early part of the contest. Kohli landed the first two blows as he struck a four (via an edge) followed by a stunning no-look six off his former India teammate.
In the same over, Ishant had the final say as he had Kohli edge the fourth delivery of the over to wicketkeeper Abishek Porel to be caught behind for a 13-ball 27.

And Ishant wasn’t going to let Kohli depart quietly resulting in a hilarious exchange between the two with the RCB batting superstar taking the send-off rater sportingly.
That wasn’t the end.

Later on, as DC suffered a batting collapse in the chase of 188, Ishant walked in to bat at no. 11 and Kohli clapped giving his friend a warm welcome to the crease.
He wasn’t done yet.
While shining the cricket ball, Kohli got close to Ishant who was at the non-striker’s end and again said a few words to his opponent who responded before the RCB opener burst into laughter.
Ishant would remain unbeaten on 0 as DC were bowled out for 140 giving RCB a 47-run win which propelled them to the fifth spot in the standings.

RCB have shown a remarkable fightback after crashing to six defeats in a row that saw them spending considerable time at the bottom of the standings. However, their revival kickstarted with a 35-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad last month and it has seen them storm back into the playoff race.
RCB will next face title holders Chennai Super Kings in what will be their final league match of the season.
