Kulwant Khejroliya took a five-wicket haul in Madhya Pradesh's innings win over Baroda during Ranji Trophy contest on Monday.

Madhya Pradesh fast bowler Kulwant Khejroliya was in red-hot form during his team’s big win over Baroda in an Elite Group D match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season.

Khejroliya produced a stunning effort with the ball during Baroda’s second innings to hasten their collapse and bring the contest to an end with Madhya Pradesh winning by an innings and 52 runs in Indore.

The 31-year-old took four wickets in four deliveries and thus became just the third Indian bowler in first-class history to do so. The other two Indians to have achieved the feat before him are Delhi’s Shankar Saini in 1988 and Jammu & Kashmir’s Mohammad Mudashir in 2018.

Khejroliya’s demolition job kicked off while he was bowling the 95th over of Baroda’s second innings when they had reached 255/5 while following-on.

The procession began with the centurion Shashwat Rawat who was bowled on 105 off 273. Next batter Mahesh Pithiya was out for a golden duck as was Bhargav Bhatt with Khejroliya completing his hat-trick with that dismissal.

However, the left-arm pacer wasn’t done as he landed a fourth straight blow in Akash Singh who was bowled for a first-ball duck too.

Khejroliya then sealed the deal by getting rid of Atit Sheth on 20 which was also his fifth wicket of the innings. He finished with figures of 5/34 from 13.3 overs.

So far, he has taken 15 wickets in five matches at 21.06.

The win was Madhya Pradesh’s third of the season in six games. They are yet to lose a contest with three others ending in a draw and they are currently at the top of Elite Group D table with 26 points so far.

Madhya Pradesh will next host Jammu and Kashmir in their final group match of the season.
