As far as Gill is concerned, there are no injury or health concerns and he only skipped the session because he arrived late. He will be attending the final training session on Wednesday.

“No injury or health concern. He arrived late in the night and that’s why didn’t attend the session. He will be attending practice tomorrow,” a well-placed source tells CricketNext.

Siraj bowls full tilt, gets batting lessons from captain

Mohammed Siraj had his first training session today and the seamer bowled full tilt, with the new ball, to the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma after spending a lot of time facing throwdowns and net bowlers.

Right after his batting session ended, the 29-year-old received a batting masterclass from captain Rohit who was explaining the importance of ideal head position to his tail-ender. Rohit was very descriptive in his explanation and even lifted a helmet in front of him and was seen explaining the drawbacks when the head falls on either side while facing deliveries.

The masterclass wasn’t restricted to Siraj as Kuldeep Yadav too received a lot of advice from his captain. Both Siraj and Kuldeep spent a lot of time working on their batting and captain Rohit and coach Rahul Dravid kept a close eye when they went about doing business in the nets.

Jaiswal works on leaves

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a long hit in the nets facing a combination of seamers, spinners and throwdown specialists in different nets but he wasn’t done even after the long hit. After cooling off for a fair bit, the left-hander summoned some local net bowlers and specifically asked them to feed him deliveries around the good-length spot near fourth-fifth stump.

The 22-year-old kept leaving multiple deliveries and ensured to keep the eye on the ball till the last minute. Jaiswal spent a lot of time getting a feel of leaving deliveries and was one of the last few batters to leave the nets area.

It was a long day under the sun for Jaiswal which started with close-in catching session and culminated with a batting drill. Rest all batters and bowlers had a decent hit with both bat and ball as entire coaching staff led by Dravid kept a close eye on proceedings.
