'Na Na Kar Ke Bhi 10 IPL Khel Jaate Hai': KKR Owner Shah Rukh Khan's Remark On MS Dhoni Goes Viral - WATCH
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is co-owner of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, which won the 2024 edition of IPL by getting the better of SRH in the final played on May 26.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the retention rules for the IPL 2025. All 10 teams are allowed to retain as many as six players, of which one has to be an uncapped player. However, there is an interesting addition to the uncapped player rule.

“A capped Indian player will become uncapped if the player has, in the last five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant season is held, not played in the starting XI in international cricket (Test match, ODI, Twenty20 International) or does not have a central contract with BCCI. This will be applicable for Indian players only.”

This rule allows former Indian captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni to be considered an uncapped player, and now Chennai Super Kings can retain him for Rs 4 crore ahead of IPL 2025 mega auctions.

After the IPL retention rules were announced, it has now become almost clear that Dhoni will be seen in action next year as well.

A day after IPL retention rules were announced, a video of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is the co-owner of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, is going viral on the internet, in which, when teased about retirement by film maker Karan Johar during an award show, he can be seen using Dhoni’s example and saying that he and Dhoni are kind of legends who, even after saying they are retiring, go on to feature for 10 more years.

“The biggest thing about legends… unki khasiyat ye hoti hai ki legends ko maalum hota hai, when to stop, when to retire. Like the great Sachin Tendulkar, like Sunil Chhetri—the footballer, like Roger Federer—the great tennis star. They all know when to retire, and I think it’s time you did too. So please go back. Thank you very much,” Shah Rukh said to Johar.

“By that standard, aur us hisab se aap kyon retire nahi hote,” Johar replied, to which Shah Rukh added, “Actually main doosre kisam ka legendary hoon. Main aur Dhoni ek kisam ke legends hai. Na na kar ke bhi 10 baar IPL khel jaate hai.”

After Shah Rukh’s statement caught everyone’s attention, Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal, who was also present at the event, added that “retirement is for legends. Kings are forever.”

Shah Rukh is the co-owner of KKR in IPL, and his team won the 2024 edition of the cash-rich league by getting the better of Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 26.
