The years roll on, and so do Chahal’s menacing deliveries as the Rajsthan Royals leg-spinner scripted history tonight in Jaipur, scalping his 200th IPL wicket today against the Mumbai Indians, becoming the first player in IPL history to reach the milestone.
The leg-spinner reached his milestone with the third ball of his spell against the Mumbai Indians today with a slower flighted delivery that was completely misjudged by Mohammed Nabi, leading to an easy catch for Chahal himself.

It is only poetic that Chahal, who made his debut with the Mumbai Indians back in 2013, revisit them for the milestone.
The leggie has become the tournament’s most prolific wicket-taker as it was only last season when Chahal took over the record from CSK veteran Dwayne Bravo, who possesses 183 scalps under his name.

In his previous meeting with MI this past month, his magical spell of 3/11 in 4 overs led to Chahal equalling another IPL record, becoming the joint-top bowler with the most three-wicket hauls in the history of the league.
The leg spinner’s clinicality and efficiency needn’t be doubted. In fact, Chahal is also RCB’s leading wicket-taker in the history of the franchise, having scalped 139 wickets in just 113 games, and is also the only bowler in IPL history to have taken 100 or more wickets for one franchise.
But change enters all our lives and it sure did for Chahal when RCB released him after the 2021 season. So, IPL 2022 marked Chahal’s debut for RR.
His chapter in RR so far has only turned out to be yet another feather to be added in his cap, as Chahal bagged the Purple Cap in the 2022 season, claiming 27 wickets at 19.52. He was also their highest wicket-taker last year as well, bagging 21 wickets at 20.57.
He also is now RR’s leading wicket-taker so far this season, with 13 scalps and remains in the race for the Purple Cap once again.
