The scalp of the southpaw made it 184 wickets for the spinner in the history of the T20 tournament, only second behind Yuzvendra Chahal, the bowler with the most number of dismissals.

Veteran Indian spinner Piyush Chawla surpassed Dwayne Bravo in the list of all tie wicket-takers in the history of the IPL  with the scalp of KKR’s Rinku Singh, caught off his own bowling.

The scalp of the southpaw made it 184 wickets for the spinner in the history of the T20 tournament, only second behind Yuzvendra Chahal, the bowler with the most number of dismissals.

Mumbai put Kolkata to bat first after Hardik Pandya won the toss at the Wankhede. The hosts struck early as the swashbuckling Phil Salt was dismissed in the opening over of the game by Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who added 13 off 6 balls, was sent back to the hut as the Lankan pacer for his second wicket of the day. He completed his three-wicket haul as the seamer got the better of KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer.

KKR were reeling at 43/4 before Sunil Narine was also given the marching orders after he had added a run-a-ball-eight turnout as Chawla got his landmark wicket.

Venkatesh Iyer and Manish Pandey put up an 83-run stand to steady the innings after having lost half their unit to the home side. Pandey, added 42 runs off 31 deliveries before Hardik Pandya claimed his wicket.

Windies big-hitter Andre Russel was caught short of his crease by Lankan Thushara as Pandya’s quick hands at the bowler’s end dismissed the KKR all-rounder for 7 runs on the day.

Ramandeep Singh was sent out to complete the innings, however, the player was sent back early on the night as Ramandeep fell prey to Jasprit Bumrah. The star Indian seamer doubled down on his tally with the quick dismissal of Australian quick Mitchell Starc as he castled the seamer.

Venkatesh Iyer, who top scored for KKR with 70 runs, met his end at the hands of Bumrah, who finished with a three-wicket haul, just as his Sri Lankan teammate Thushara finished the day.
