'In Life and Demise he Moved the Nation': Sachin Tendulkar Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Ratan Tata
Indian cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar took to social media to make a heartfelt tribute to the late Ratan Tata

As the nation mourns the loss of the visionary Ratan Tata, who passed away, aged 86 at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday night. A Padma Vibhushan recipient, Tata, has been in intensive care at the hospital since Monday.

As the news of Tata’s demise spread, people from different walks of life gathered outside his house since early Thursday morning to pay tribute to him.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was among the early visitors at Tata’s home.

Following his visit to pay respects, the Master Blaster also posted a heartfelt tribute to India’s pioneer with a post on his official social media handle on X (formerly known as Twitter). There he penned a short note with a photo of when the two had met in May 2024.

“In his life, and demise, Mr Ratan Tata has moved the nation,” he began.

“I was fortunate to spend time with him, but millions, who have never met him, feel the same grief that I feel today. Such is his impact,” he added.

Sachin also went on to praise his philanthropy and the work he has done for animal welfare.

“From his love for animals to philanthropy, he showed that true progress can only be achieved when we care for those who don’t have the means to take care of themselves,” Sachin shared.

“Rest in peace, Mr Tata. Your legacy will continue to live through the institutions you built and values that you embraced,” he concluded.

Sachin had also shared a post of their previous visit in May where they shared a love for automobiles, passion for wildlife conservation, affection for animals, and commitment to social good.

His mortal remains will be kept at the NCPA from 10 am to 3.30 pm on Thursday for people to pay their respects and the last rites will be performed in the Worli area of Mumbai later in the day.

The Maharashtra government has declared a day of mourning in the state on Thursday to pay tributes to Ratan Tata, the Chief Minister’s Office said.
