'I Feel Robbed, Just Pure ****ry': Andre Russell Drops F-bomb in a Fiery X-rated Rant on Instagram
Andre Russell has lashed out at the turn of off-field events that culminated in his team Trinbago Knight Riders being eliminated from CPL 2024.

Trinbago Knight Riders allrounder Kieron Pollard has claimed he felt ‘robbed’ after his team lost to Barbados Royals in the eliminator match of Caribbean Premier League 2024. Midway through the contest, floodlight failure caused a lengthy delay which resulted in the match officials applying DLS to calculate Royals’ new target in five overs which they achieved thanks to David Miller’s blistering half-century.

Three of the six floodlights at the Providence Stadium went off with five deliveries still left in TKR innings. They were 168/3 in 19.1 overs with Nicholas Pooran 9 shy of a century when the match was halted. The power was restored only 10 minutes before the cut-off time for a five-over match. Using DLS, Royals were asked to chase 60 in five overs and Miller struck an unbeaten 17-ball 50 to take them into Qualifier 2.

Russell was batting alongside Pooran when the floodlights went off.

“Am not the person to come on the internet and voice my opinion but this year CPL I feel robbed,” he said. “This light situation was ****ry lights came on just before the cut off time is also ****ry and then 60 off 30 balls is also a bigger ****ry and yes Andre Russell said it right is right ****ry a ****ry but I guess it’s just pure ****ry,” Russell said via an Instagram story.

TKR skipper Kieron Pollard revealed that the match officials gave them the option to resume the contest under insufficient light even though they deemed the conditions deemed unsafe.

Guyana Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport issued a statement revealing what caused the floodlight failure.

“During the nineteenth over, three (3) floodlights that were powered by an independent generator lost power, thus causing a disruption to the match,” the statement read. “The GPL technical team on standby immediately began rendering assistance and restored power to two of three floodlights on the same circuit.

“The Stadium’s Technical staff and GPL worked assiduously to restore power to the third floodlight which had a technical fault with the underground cable feeding power to that Floodlight, a substitute cable was installed quicky to have this floodlight operational. This was achieved around 10.51 pm,” it added.
