The fans at Chinnaswamy Stadium could hardly keep calm when Virat Kohli was in the arena. On Friday, he turned the atmosphere lively with his classic knock of 70 runs and a century partnership with Sarfaraz Khan. Before falling prey to Glenn Phillips on the last ball of the day, he even completed 9000 runs in the longest format of the game.
On the fourth day of the first New Zealand Test, Kohli remained in the changing room as Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz kept the Kiwi bowlers at bay, adding over 170 runs for the fourth wicket. However, the first session on Saturday was halted before lunch as rain returned in Bengaluru. Thanks to the superb drainage system at Chinnaswamy, the game resumed after almost a three-hour delay.
Meanwhile, the former Indian captain sneaked out of the dressing room to check the weather. While doing so, he was caught on the broadcaster’s camera and appeared on the big screen. The crowd went wild after watching Kohli on the screen as they cheered for him loudly.

Play resumed on Saturday on the fourth day after a nearly two-hour delay that included a 40-minute lunch break, with India only 12 runs behind New Zealand in the second innings of the opening Test.
India were bolstered by Sarfaraz Khan’s unbeaten 125 (154 balls, 16 fours, 3 sixes) in a 113-run unbeaten stand for the fourth wicket with Rishabh Pant (53 batting) as the hosts reached 344 for three in 71 overs. India continued scoring briskly on the fourth morning before rain halted the proceedings about 30 minutes before lunch.
Sarfaraz picked up from where he had left off on day three to bring up his maiden Test century, reaching 125 not out from 154 balls with 16 fours and three sixes. On the other end, Pant, who copped a blow to his right knee while keeping wicket on the second day and did not take the field on the third, returned to action and lifted India’s spirits. Pant was unbeaten on 53 off 56 balls with five fours and three sixes.
