The stranded Indian journalists, who went to the West Indies to cover the T20 World Cup 2024, will take off from the hurricane-hit Barbados on Wednesday. Extending his support to the media persons, BCCI secretary Jay Shah offered them to fly with the Indian team on the special chartered flight arranged from Barbados to Delhi.
An Air India special charter flight named AIC24WC – Air India Champions 24 World Cup – is bringing back the Indian squad, its support staff, the players’ families, board officials and the Indian media, who have been stranded on the island for the past three days due to Hurricane Beryl.

A few journalists on Wednesday took to social media and thanked the BCCI secretary for the goodwill gesture.

As per the schedule, the flight will take off from Barbados at 4:30 am (local time; 2 PM IST). It will take a 16-hour flying time to reach Delhi, where the team will land on Thursday at 6 am (IST) if there are no further delays in their departure.
The Grantley Adams International Airport here resumed its operations on Tuesday. Earlier, the Indian team was scheduled to leave around 6 pm local time on July 2 and arrive at 7:45 pm (IST) on Wednesday.

Hurricane Beryl has now become a Category 4 storm moving down from Category 5 and is headed towards Jamaica.
