Notably, the blockbuster film Suryavamsam celebrated its 26th anniversary in June. Written and directed by Vikraman, the film featured R Sarath Kumar, Devayani and Radhika Sarathkumar in the lead roles. Besides, notable performances by Priya Ramam, Manivannan, Anandraj, Ramesh Khanna and Sundarrajan were also appreciated. The music of the film was composed by SA Rajkumar and the cinematography was done by S Saravanan.
Speaking of the film’s plot, Suryavamsam delves into the complexities of relationships and highlights the bond between son and father. The film also reflected the negative effects of ego and communication barriers and how they can destroy the interpersonal relations in the family. Sarath Kumar, who portrayed both the father and son characters in the film, shines in dual roles and won accolades. The film was remade in multiple languages. It was remade in Telugu and Hindi as Sooryavansham, and in Kannada, it was named Surya Vamsha.
