New Delhi: The market closed at all-time high. The Sensex, Nifty & CNX Midcap ended at life high. Banking, capital goods, FMCG, oil and pharma stocks led the rally. Movers of the day were HDFC Bank, Ranbaxy Labs, HPCL, VSNL and Dabur India.
The Sensex closed at 11,638.01, up 73.65 points or 0.64 per cent. It hit a life high at 11,710.69 during the day.
The Nifty ended at 3483.15, up 9.85 points or 0.28 per cent. It touched an all-time high of 3508.25.

The CNX Midcap closed at 4935.65, up 38.85 points or 0.79 per cent. It touched a life high of 4944.45.
The BSE Small Cap Index ended at 6,830.11, up 25.51 points. The BSE Midcap Index closed at 5,514.36, up 30.61 points.
The market breadth was positive, about 1509 shares advanced, 979 shares declined, and 53 shares remained unchanged.
The total market turnover was at Rs 44036.91 crore. The NSE Cash turnover was at Rs 4549.13 crore. The NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 34931.03 crore. The BSE Cash turnover was at Rs 4556.75 crore.
HDFC Bank, Ranbaxy Labs, ITC, L&T, ICICI Bank, HPCL, VSNL, Dabur India and BPCL were the movers of the day.
ONGC, Grasim, Guj Ambuja Cements, Tata Motors, Satyam, SAIL, Shipping Corp and HCL Tech were the biggest losers on the indices.
The BSE Bankex outperformed the other indices. It closed at 5,472.73, up 2.45 per cent or 130.76 points due to buying in HDFC Bank, Andhra Bank, IOB, Oriental Bank, Union Bank, Bank of Baroda, Allahabad Bank, ICICI Bank, UTI Bank and SBI.
Capital goods stocks like Thermax, Alstom Projects, Greaves Cotton, KEC Infrastructures, Gammon India, HEG, Ingersoll Rand, L&T, BHEL and Crompton Greaves also ended higher. The BSE Capital Goods Index closed at 8,504.73, up 1.20 per cent or 100.62 points.
FMCG stocks including Dabur India, Shaw Wallace, ITC, McDowell and HLL also firmed up. The BSE FMCG Index closed at 2,292.22, up 1.18 per cent.
The BSE Oil & Gas Index ended at 5,096.18, up 0.99 per cent as gains were seen in MRPL, HPCL, Chennai Petro, Kochi Refineries, BPCL and Reliance.
Pharma stocks like Ranbaxy Labs, Glenmark, Aventis Pharma, Pfizer, Wockhardt and Cipla also spurted up. The BSE Healthcare Index closed at 3,973.91, up 0.76 per cent.
Consumer Durables stocks including Mirc Electronics, Titan Industries and Su-Raj Diamonds also stirred up. The BSE Consumer Durables Index ended at 3,265.23, up 0.40 per cent.
Some metal and auto stocks also gained.
However, some technology stocks lost ground.
