New Delhi: Revenue officials have dropped recovery measures against the Pepsi unit in Palakkad, Kerala, after Pepsi paid Rs 1 crore in sales tax.

The unit had been sealed by revenue officials when it was realised that the unit had not paid Rs 2 crore in sales tax.

Pepsi has assured the Revenue department that the rest of the amount would be paid by the end of March.

According to news agency PTI, Revenue officials had attached two machines of the plant and sealed its office after the company's appeal to the Sales Tax Commission for exemption was rejected two days back.

The company had earlier approached the Kerala High Court seeking tax exemption for the first five years of its inception. The Court, however, referred the matter to the government on taking a decision.
