Among manufactured category sugar, imported edible oil and oil cakes became expensive.
New Delhi: Inflation rose to 0.61 per cent for the week ended May 9 on account of higher prices of cereals, imported edible oil, sugar, spices and fruit and vegetables.
The wholesale prices-based inflation stood at 0.48 per cent in the previous week. However, in the corresponding week a year-ago the rate of price rise was 8.57 per cent.
Among manufactured category sugar, imported edible oil and oil cakes became expensive.
However, the prices of sooji, coconut oil, maida, salt and atta declined.
Fuel, power, light and lubricant index remained unchanged at its previous week's level.
