The Supreme Court said that Maran's plea is premature and insisted that if the chargesheet is found defective, a lower court will quash it.
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation can file a chargesheet against former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran in the Aircel-Maxis deal case after the Supreme Court turned down his plea seeking to restrain the CBI to do the same.
The apex court said that Maran's plea is premature and insisted that if the chargesheet is found defective, a lower court will quash it. Maran had accused the CBI of filing the chargesheet without a thorough investigation.
Maran has been accused of abusing his official position in the telecom deal.
