Peak Bengaluru Moment: Woman Peels Vegetables While Stuck In Traffic
Bengaluru ranks as the world's second slowest city for driving. In the city, it takes 29 minutes and 10 seconds to cover just 10 kilometres.

Bengaluru, a city known for its traffic jams, grapples with the daily ordeal of navigating even the shortest of distances. According to a report from TomTom, a Dutch multinational specializing in location technology, Bengaluru ranks as the world’s second-slowest city for driving. In the city, it takes 29 minutes and 10 seconds to cover a distance of just 10 kilometres. Last year, the time to travel the same distance in Bengaluru’s city centre was slightly shorter at 29 minutes and 9 seconds. Amid this ceaseless congestion, various stories of Bengaluru residents trying to make use of their time in traffic have gone viral on social media. Adding to it is the tale of this female commuter who found an unconventional way to make the most of this otherwise unproductive time.

In a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), a user by the name of Priya uploaded a photograph of packets of peeled peas and green chickpeas kept on the seat of a car.

“Being productive during peak traffic hours,” she wrote in the post.

This post has rapidly gained traction on the internet, amassing nearly 1.06 lakh views so far.

Since its online debut, Priya’s post has also triggered a number of amusing reactions from the people on X. One user humorously wrote, “Sending this to my boss!”

Another lauded Priya and commented that she seemed quite productive. “Haha. I won’t be surprised if a startup comes up with an idea of mobile hydroponics farms. Plants grow as a vehicle reaches Indiranagar from Silkboard midst of Bangalore traffic,” wrote another person.

One user, evidently impressed, remarked, “Damn…You have set a new benchmark for productivity, Priya.”

In another peak Bengaluru moment seen a few days ago, a woman was spotted working while she was stuck on a two-wheeler in the city’s traffic.

A social media user had shared a photo that perfectly captured what they called a “Peak Bangalore moment.” The image shared featured a woman seated on a Rapido bike while typing on her laptop.

While these lighthearted discourses continue, a report has surfaced, highlighting the substantial economic toll because of Bengaluru’s traffic.

According to a study conducted by traffic expert M N Sreehari and his research team, the city reportedly bears an annual loss of a whopping Rs 20,000 crore rupees due to traffic delays, congestion, signal halts, time wastage, fuel consumption, and related factors. The traffic issues have not only hindered people’s productivity but have also created major delays in shipments for small and medium enterprises, thereby resulting in lessening the overall economic growth in Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India.
