'Now We're Going to Push Him for The Death Overs': Paras Mhambrey on Virat Kohli's Bowling
Paras Mhambrey suggested that Virat Kohli has passed the test of bowling in the middle overs and now it's time to push him to bowl in death overs.

Team India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey was impressed with Virat Kohli’s bowling in the ODI World Cup match against Netherlands on Sunday. Skipper Rohit Sharma decided to give the ball to Kohli in the last league stage match of the tournament and he didn’t disappoint his skipper and picked a crucial wicket of opposition captain Scott Edwards.

Kohli bowled three overs and gave just 13 with one wicket added to his kitty.

Mhambrey talked about Kohli setting up Edwards with a delivery which was going down the leg side but the batter got a bat on it as wicketkeeper KL Rahul claimed a fine catch.

“It was a nice set up. It was lovely to see Virat’s wicket. I could see him adjusting the fine leg a little bit, looked at KL Rahul saying where he is going to bowl. It was a lovely set up. I had a chat with Rohit on how could we use Virat. With the new ball, he swings the ball and gives us that little bit in the powerplay,” said Mhambrey.

Previously, Kohli had bowled only three balls against Bangladesh, completing Hardik Pandya’s over when the all-rounder injured himself. Owing to Hardik’s absence, Rohit Sharma and Co. didn’t have the luxury of a fifth bowler, thus the Indian skipper turned to Virat.

The bowling coach suggested that Kohli has passed the test of bowling in the middle overs and now it’s time to push him to bowl in death overs.

“The bigger challenge with Virat was the middle phase, which he has done in this game. He ticked that box as well. Now we are going to push him for the death, let’s see when that happens, but I am sure he does have that really nipping, sharp yorkers for the right-handed batters. I think we will see little bit of that as well,” Mhambrey added.
