Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy gears up to unveil its latest offering, the Dot One on December 15.

This eagerly anticipated model is positioned as the company’s inaugural sub-Rs 1 lakh e-scooter, providing an affordable option for commuters.

The Dot One is essentially a variation of the existing One e-scooter, with a notable difference—the absence of a removable battery pack. This modification results in a 3.7kWh battery capacity and an impressive claimed range of 160km on the Integrated Drive Cycle (IDC).

While specific performance details are yet to be disclosed, speculations suggest a marginally less powerful motor than the One’s, which boasts a claimed 8.5kW and 72Nm.

Although details about the Dot One’s design remain scarce, it is expected to closely resemble its predecessor, the One. Simple Energy promises over 30 litres of storage, providing practicality for daily commuting needs. The inclusion of a touchscreen TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity is another highlight, likely shared with the One, given the common platform shared by both scooters.

One of the key selling points is the sub-Rs 1 lakh price tag, placing the Dot One in a unique market position. Among potential competitors, the Ola S1 X stands out as one of the few contenders in the same price range.

In its written material, Simple has employed both ‘launch’ and ‘debut,’ creating some ambiguity. All uncertainties will be put to rest on December 15 when the Dot One is officially unveiled. As of now, Simple Energy has successfully delivered 40 One electric scooters across India since the product’s launch in May 2023.

Founder & CEO of Simple Energy, Suhas Rajkumar was quoted by the Economic Times stating, “Today marks a significant chapter in the journey of Simple Energy as we proudly introduce the Simple Dot One, the latest affordable addition to our pioneering Simple One series.” He stated that their vision to provide accessible electric mobility aligns with the Simple Dot One, blending elegant design with cutting-edge features. “We are eagerly anticipating its market launch, counting on the unwavering support of our esteemed customers,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Simple One boasts a wealth of features, including all-LED lighting, spacious 30-litre under-seat storage, swappable batteries, a combined braking system, fast charging, and a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster.

Powered by a 7kW (peak output) motor producing an impressive 72Nm, it introduces a unique dual battery setup with a fixed battery and a 7kg removable battery pack, totalling 5kWh. Built on a tubular underbone chassis with a telescopic fork and mono-shock, it rides on 12-inch alloy wheels fitted with 90-section tires, with an option for a 100-section front and 110-section rear tire combination.
