It may be the smallest SUV in Lincoln's lineup but the MKC is also the most important in terms of sales and in influencing car buyers to go with the company rather than one of its competitors. Therefore, Lincoln is taking no chances in terms of design, active technologies or luxury appointments.
Revealed on Wednesday, the heavily updated MKC gets a sharper, more distinctive grille a new headlamp and taillight design plus a very minimal use of chrome-effect trim to ensure the car doesn't cross the line separating luxury from ostentation.

The MKC is hugely popular with female drivers -- Lincoln claims that almost half of MKC sales are to women -- and so it's clear from the new exterior lines that the company has done everything it can visually to make the car seem strong and to have a genuine presence without appearing overly aggressive.
"We recognize it takes a lot to attract a buyer from other luxury competitors, but the Lincoln MKC has that kind of appeal and, we believe that the new MKC will capture even more luxury clients," said Kumar Galhotra, president, The Lincoln Motor Company.
Inside there are soft leathers, plus details like seats that can either heat or cool their occupant. And those are on top of active driver aids such as Emergency Autonomous Braking, active park assist, and pedestrian detection which are either available as standard or as optional equipment depending on which trim level a customer opts for. But that's just the start.

In recent years, Lincoln has quickly come to realize that the definition of luxury is changing very quickly. So, the MKC comes with the Lincoln Way app, which allow owners to remotely lock, unlock, start the engine and adjust the heating or air conditioning just like the apps offered by a host of other carmakers. However what sets it apart is a concierge service that can take care of standard maintenance and servicing. With the app, an owner can get their car collected, serviced and returned with the tap of a button and automatically receive a courtesy car. All they have to do is say where they want the car collected from and delivered to.

Meanwhile, for those that still have a penchant for old-school luxury, there are three Black Label high specification versions of the car, each of which offers a different curated combination of leather and wood. But even here there's a new world twist. As well as Argento or Ziricote wood inlays, Black label owners get free annual car detailing and car washes, and access to a host of restaurants with black label curated menus.
The Lincoln MKC will go on sale in the summer of 2018.
