Le Mans has almost every auto enthusiast excited for the event and to top it up, a 1:3 replica of Ford's GT race car built has been built from 40,000 Legos, and is set to go on display at the Circuit de la Sarth on June 18.
The work of Lego master builder Pascal Lenhard, took three weeks to build and incorporates all of the badges, decals and switches found in the real-life model. Interestingly, Lenhard created them in brick form rather than reverting to stickers or transfers. Oh, and there's a GT40 made out of Lego too.
Lenhard was commissioned to help Ford mark its return to endurance racing. "The form of the car is very strange but very exciting." says the Lego master builder.
This year is also the 50th anniversary of Ford's historic 1-2-3 victory at Le Mans with the now iconic GT40, so for good measure, Lenhard has built an equally spectacular Lego model of it too.
