2017 KTM Duke 390 and Updated Duke 200 to Launch in India on February 23
The launch comes right after the company had updated their popular RC series in India with the new RC 390 and RC 200.

KTM had recently launched the updated RC series in India with the introduction of the new RC 390 and the RC 200. Now, the company is set to launch the 2017 Duke 390 on February 23.

Known to be as one of the best value for money performance-oriented motorcycles in India, the 2017 KTM Duke 390 promises to be better than before thanks to the host of new features it comes loaded with.

It is expected to be powered by a 373cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 43 horsepower and 37 Nm of torque, which comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The model unveiled globally came with a slipper clutch to prevent the locking of tyres during aggressive downshifts and a new suspension setup on board along with a bigger 320 mm front disc brake. The fuel tank has also been increased to a capacity of 13.4-litres, as compared to the 11-litre tank capacity of the outgoing model of the Duke 390. Other electronic aids include ride-by-wire and ABS as standard. It will interesting to see whether all of these features make it to the Indian-spec version of the Duke 390 or some of them are skipped in order to keep the pricing in check.

In order to be Euro IV compliant, KTM had fitted the Duke 390 with a new catalytic converter as a result of which, the bike gets a side-mounted exhaust instead of an underbelly exhaust. This, along with the addition of a larger fuel tank could mean a weight gain of around 10 kilos for the new model, which means the bike would be different in terms of the riding experience it offers.

One of the biggest attraction in terms of new features is the TFT colour display screen.

When it comes to the Duke 200, though, the company might simply update the existing model with a new paint scheme, like it did with the RC 200, in order to keep the price low and have an accessible variant for customers who wish to have a KTM from the Duke range of motorcycles in India.
