PM Modi in Gujarat: The GCMMF's Amul brand is set to achieve a turnover of Rs 80,000 crore, and Amul Federation a turnover of Rs 61,000 crore this financial year

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday participated in the golden jubilee celebration of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns the ‘Amul’ brand.

Th prime minister will later lay foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 48,000 crore in Gujarat.

  • Speaking at the golden jubilee celebratory event of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the sapling planted by the villages of the state 50 years ago, has become a big banyan tree today.
  • “The branches of this tree have now extended across the country as well as the world. Greetings to you on the golden jubilee of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation,” PM Modi said.
  • The prime minister pointed at the “Kisan Credit Card” introduced by his government, saying that the aim and focus is “to help small farmers”.
  • The emphasis of our government is on “making the food provider an energy provider as well as a fertiliser provider”, PM Modi said.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Mahesana and held a roadshow in the region, following which he visited the Mahesana temple and performed ‘pooja’ there.

PM MODI’S GUJARAT VISIT FULL SCHEDULE

– 10:45 AM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Ahmedabad, will take part in the golden jubilee celebration of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which is owns the Amul brand and inaugurate five projects worth Rs 1,200 crore. The federation’s managing director Jayen Mehta said that the GCMMF’s vision for the next 25 years will also be discussed.

The program will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad’s Motera area with the presence of over 1.25 lakh dairy farmers and representatives from around 18,600 villages in the state.

The GCMMF was set up in 1973 with an annual turnover of Rs 20 crore, Mehta told reporters.

The federation, in the last 50 years, has emerged as India’s number one FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) organisation, with ‘Amul’ set to achieve a turnover of Rs 80,000 crore, and Amul Federation a turnover of Rs 61,000 crore this financial year.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, Union Animal Husbandry Minister Parshottam Rupala and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will also be present at the celebrations.

PM Modi will inaugurate five new dairy projects, including a modern cheese plant of Sabar Dairy, which has an investment of Rs 600 crore and a long-life tetra pack milk plant of Amul Dairy at Anand and the expansion of its chocolate plant.

An ice cream plant of Sarhad Dairy of 50,000-litre in Kutch, a unit of Bharuch Dairy coming up in Mumbai and various dairy development works under the government schemes in the state’s Saurashtra-Kutch region will also be inaugurated by the prime minister.

– 12:45 PM: The prime minister will reach Mahesana, where he will perform ‘pooja’ and ‘darshan’ at the Valinath Mahadev Temple.

– 1:00 PM: PM Modi will take part in a public function in Mahesana’s Tarabh. There he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 8,350 crore.

In Tarabh, the PM will also dedicate several important projects to the nation, including Bharat Net Phase-II – Gujarat Fibre Grid Network Limited, which will provide high speed internet to over 8,000 gram panchayats. Other than this, multiple projects for rail line doubling, gauge conversion, new broad-gauge line in Mahesana and Banaskantha districts and other road projects.

– 4:15 PM: The prime minister will inaugurate, lay foundation stone and initiate work commencement of several developmental projects worth around Rs 17,500 crore in Navsari.

– 6:15 PM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Kakrapar Atomic Power Station and dedicate two new Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) to the nation.

PM MODI IN VARANASI

On February 23, the prime minister will be in Varanasi to participate in multiple events, inaugurate and lay foundation of development projects of over Rs 13,000 crores in the state.

  • PM Modi will take part in the prize distribution programme for the winners of Sansad Sanskrit Pratiyogita at Swatantra Sabhagar, Banaras Hindu University.
  • 11:15 AM: He will perform pooja and darshan at the Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali.
  • 11:30 AM: PM Modi will attend a public function which will commemorate the 647th anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas.
  • At noon, the prime minister will attend a public function where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stone of several development projects worth over Rs 13,000 crore in Varanasi.

The statement of his visit from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also said that PM Modi had focused on transforming Varanasi and its neighbouring areas by initiating several developmental projects contributing to the essential sectors such as road, rail, aviation, tourism, education, health, urban development, water and sanitation.
