Watch: Brazil Baker Takes The Viral Asoka Makeup Trend To A Whole New Level
The viral video begins with the baker laying out the materials for the cake, and the song from Asoka plays in the background.

The captivating song San Sanana from the Bollywood film Asoka has become a rage on social media. The song, sung by Alka Yagnik became the latest craze for makeup enthusiasts or digital creators who are posting time-lapse transition reels. In the clips, they apply makeup in rapid, edited steps while dancing to the song. The fad has gone global, with people from all over trying to lip-sync to the Hindi song. Now, a Brazil-based baker has taken the trend to a whole new level in the realm of delectable food.

The viral video begins with the baker laying out the materials for the cake, and the song from Asoka plays in the background. We can see a glimpse of the cake being built up like a statue. First, it is completely covered in chocolate, followed by realistic details of a woman’s attire and facial features such as eyes, nose, lips, and brows, and the highlight, which is the Asoka trend-inspired makeup. This is followed by hair details, jewellery, and the ultimate full-look reveal timed to the beats of the music. Throughout the reel, the baker makes sure to follow the hand movement, which is also seen in trendy makeup reels, and also accurately lip-syncing.

The reel has received about 2.9 million views so far and a slew of comments. The caption is loosely translated as “Everyone does it in their own way, right? Makeup for me only in cake. So I decided to do my version of Asoka makeup inspired by TOP Camila Pudim who represented Brazil in great style!” as quoted by NDTV.

The film Asoka was a fictional story about the ancient Mauryan monarch Ashoka, who had ruled over the Indian subcontinent. It starred Kareena Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan. The film’s costume design is inspired by what appears to be an ancient Indian style and makeup. Kareena, who plays the female lead in the period drama, was seen wearing heavy eye makeup and had a one-of-a-kind look. The eye-catching style inspired several content creators and social media influencers to imitate it. However, the viral trend gained traction globally. The Asoka trend was gradually elevated, reimagining both modern and traditional bridal ensembles.
