Wild animals must always stay alert and aware of their surroundings, which could be a hiding spot for predators. This is the kind of life they have to live each day and thus adapt to the environment. A video is making rounds on the internet showing a lone leopard attacking a group of baboons. See what happened between the big cat and the unfortunate yet brave baboons.
The video was shared on YouTube by the channel called Latest Sightings, a place where netizens can watch a lot of interesting animal encounters caught on camera. The 1-minute 25-second clip starts with several baboons running along the side of a lake, seemingly moving to another place. Then suddenly, a huge leopard jumps out from the bushes, startling and scaring the smaller wild animals. The big cat is successful in hunting one of the baboons, as he emerges from the bushes carrying the, likely dead, animal in his mouth. The rest of the group follows the leopard, in hopes of getting their friend back. The next scene shows the bigger animal laying its hunt down on the grass, as the baboons shriek and yell at it from behind.
Seemingly annoyed by the shrill sounds of the group, the leopard tries to scare them away. At first, it was successful at its attempt but the baboons were relentless in their pursuit and did not back down. So, by the end of the clip, the leopard is out of the frame entirely, while the baboons crowd around their dead friend.
According to the description under the video, it was recorded by a safari ranger called Solomon Ndlovu at the Singita Lebombo Lodge, South Africa. Netizens react to the video in the comment section. The first user wrote, “Never change to editing these videos. That’s why we come here." A second user shared, “It is so heartwarming to see how the baboons try to protect one another." And a third user stated, “Unbelievable how fast a leopard kills." The video has gained more than 1 million views on the platform so far.
