Ma gave Liu assets worth more than Rs 3.84 crore, including a flat.

An 88-year-old Shanghai man has given properties, including a valuable flat worth about Rs 4 crore, to a fruit salesman, Liu. Surprisingly, the old man named Ma and Liu have no relationship or blood ties. The revelation left the kin of the old man shocked and astounded. According to the South China Morning Post, Ma gave Liu assets worth more than Rs 3.84 crore, including a flat. The official agreement and properly signed paperwork served as the documentation for the transfer.

But why, one wonders, did Ma decide to name the properties after a fruit vendor? The article claims that because of Liu’s extraordinary care towards Ma, he entrusted all of his holdings to him. It is said that Liu took care of Ma and even moved in with Ma’s wife and kids to make sure they were okay during his sickness. Liu took charge of everything after Ma’s lone kid, a mentally ill son, passed away unexpectedly. The funeral was attended by none of Ma’s family members.

Ma was taken to the hospital by Liu, who was the only person to see him while he was there after he had passed out from a fall at home.

Ma tragically died in December of 2021. His three sisters then disputed Liu’s ownership of the homes, claiming they were entitled to a portion of their deceased brother’s wealth. The sisters asserted that when the property was transferred, Ma’s mental state was unstable.

The 2020 agreement between the elderly man and Liu, which said that Liu would take care of Ma until his death and that all of his possessions would then pass to him, was deemed void by Ma’s family. They asserted that Ma was no longer psychologically capable of signing the contract since he had developed mental diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

In retaliation, Liu allegedly took advantage of the circumstance to get signatures on documents at a difficult moment for the family. The notary officials denied the family’s allegations and declared that the elderly man’s mental state was normal. The Baoshan District People’s Court ruled that the agreement was legitimate and directed that Ma’s house and any associated funds be given to Liu.
