Kanya Sesser, a 31-year-old from Portland, Oregon, has captivated the world by breaking the record for the longest handstand on a skateboard, set to be featured in the Guinness World Records 2025. Born in 1992 without legs and with webbed fingers, Kanya was abandoned as a baby and later adopted by an American family in May 1998. Raised by her parents Jane and Dave, along with her two elder brothers, Kanya’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.

Despite her physical challenges, Kanya thrived in various sports, including wheelchair racing, wheelchair rugby, swimming, and sledge hockey. Her determination and resilience were evident from a young age, and she continued to push boundaries throughout her life. By her freshman year of high school, she had joined the cheerleading squad and landed her first modelling job.

Kanya discovered skateboarding during her high school years and was instantly hooked. She recalls her first attempt at riding down a hill near her house, describing it as the best feeling ever. This newfound passion led her to make history in the sport. Completing a 19.65-second handstand on a skateboard in Los Angeles, Kanya felt a sense of freedom and accomplishment, stating that the skateboard felt like an extension of her legs.

Kanya has since participated in prestigious events such as the X Games in 2019 and the Dew Tour in 2022, further solidifying her status as a top athlete. Her achievements extend beyond sports; she has appeared in music videos, films, and TV shows, including the 2022 film Babylon and TV series like The Walking Dead and Hawaii Five-0.
