On-duty UP Cops Make Reels With Ghaziabad Property Dealer; Suspended
An FIR under Section 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was lodged against the suspended cops.

Law enforcement agencies often take it upon themselves to urge people against making reels when they are driving or travelling in public transport. In an interesting turn of events, two police policemen from the Uttar Pradesh force were suspended after they posted reels with a property dealer. The policemen were in their uniforms when they made the video, which suggests that they were on duty at the time of making the video. The suspended policemen were stationed at Ghaziabad’s Ankur Vihar police station. They were identified as Dharmendra Sharma and Ritesh Kumar, posted at Ghaziabad. The property dealer has been identified as Sartaz.

The video that got them suspended showed Sartaz getting out of his SUV and shaking hands with the two uniformed policemen. During the video, the trio parked their two SUVs in the middle of the road. This video was recently shared on X by journalist Priya Singh. She wrote, “The inspector got suspended due to the reel, and the property dealer was arrested. The reel was being made by parking the car on the highway. The case is said to be from Ghaziabad, UP.”

An X user commented on the video, “Folks, respect your uniform. It itself is a source of pride.”

Another person wrote, “It’s good. Nowadays even IAS officers do less work and make more reels. They all have created YouTube channels.”

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Vivek Chand Yadav told PTI, “When the matter came to our knowledge, the two sub-inspectors were suspended for violating police rules and a departmental inquiry was ordered against them. An FIR under Section 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was also lodged against Sartaz and he was arrested on Friday.”

The Indian Express reported that the accused cops went to the property dealer’s office located at Tronica City in Ghaziabad’s Loni Circle to make the video with him.

While the Uttar Pradesh policemen were reprimanded for making the video, one cop from Mumbai police is lauded for his dancing talent. Policeman Amol Kamble has over four lakh Instagram followers thanks to his brilliant dance skills.

The senior cop told Hindustan Times, “I spend my weekends practising dance and making videos. Even on days when I get free from work a little early, I visit a dance studio and practice. My family supports me and even the [police] department. That said, I never let my work suffer.”
