Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Could Have This Big Upgrade That We Have Wanted
Samsung's 2025 flagship series could get a major boost that might help the company entice more people to upgrade and get the new models.

Samsung is likely to get many people excited about the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. The South Korean giant is being tipped to return to its 2022 strategy in which it invested heavily in Snapdragon CPUs for its flagship Galaxy S series, according to a report.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will likely be used in all three speculated Galaxy S25 models: the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the company’s foldable flagship phones may use Exynos instead of Qualcomm CPUs. The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is scheduled to be released in January 2025.

According to the South Korean website Hankyung, Samsung’s choice to equip the next-generation Galaxy S handsets with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip is driven by the need for high power to run generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) applications.

The company unveiled its AI, Galaxy AI, earlier this year with the Galaxy S24 series, but the next year’s version is expected to deliver increased functionality and better optimisation — all of which would necessitate more power.

Samsung is likely to rely on Qualcomm’s forthcoming technology to make the Galaxy S25 series more powerful than its predecessor. Earlier, Samsung was said to be working on a unique processor that could handle AI functions, but later reports stated the plans had reached a stumbling block.

According to another source, Samsung intends to use a 3nm Exynos chip in the Galaxy S25 series. It was also reported that Samsung was exploring employing MediaTek CPUs in its future flagship devices. Because Samsung has not officially announced which CPUs will power the Galaxy S25 series, readers should treat reports about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip with caution.

Meanwhile, the flagship phones, typically scheduled for the latter half of the year, may employ Samsung’s in-house CPUs. The next generation of Galaxy Z foldable smartphones is expected to include the Exynos 2500 chip, which is presently in development.

This could signal a significant shift in Samsung’s flagship phone strategy. While Samsung has alternated between employing Exynos and Snapdragon chips in its Galaxy S series phones, the foldable phones have always employed high-end Snapdragon processors.
